Rasheed Abdulrahman born in 1965, Sultanate of Oman. and a member of the OSFA.
It is no contradiction that an artwork has one function for the artist and another for the receiver. In fact, when Abdulrahman takes his work as a personal expression, this work achieves a long term sublime value in the receivers; higher than if he tried to please them. He tends not to be straight forward. Instead, he aims to express ideas through making use of all his experiences. Having chosen Abstraction as a style of expressing his themes, either personal or social, he expressed many levels or trends which might be connected at the end with the concern of Art. In all these levels, he expresses a continuous search and worry about the choices he has made in a painting. It seems that he has not found a better means of expression than Abstraction, which is a creative process that compliments the aesthetic human goal. Most of his works belong to the contemporary age, but differ from others in borrowing from the past with a modern form in an abstractive aesthetic vision. I believe that he succeeded in creating a painting that is both original in his identity, and modern in its aesthetic techniques.
