Born
in Tunisia in 1952, Abdallah Akar now works and lives in Paris. He studied
under Ghani Alani, Master Iraqi calligrapher, and exhibited for the 1st
time in 1986. He started teaching calligraphy at the " Institut du
Monde Arabe " in 1993. In 2006, for the Festival of Sacred Music
of the World, Akar installed his iron calligraphy in the Palace Tazi in
Fes. A few months later his " Muallaqat " (hanging poems) are
shown in the Big Library of Angers. Following the highest poetry of Arab
and European countries, he offers his own vision always looking for different
supports. The complexity of paper and wood, and long cotton veils seduce
him. In his studio of Val d'Oise, Abdallah Akar goes on, mixing heritage
and tradition, and the sensations with words, intuition and humility.
In 2007, he published a beautiful book in French and Arabic entitled "
Les Poemes Suspendus " where the artist extends his vision on the
7 poems founding Arabia of the 6th century. "Les
