radhika khimji

Radhika Khimji is an artist who is currently living and working between Muscat and London. Her work pivots itself on dualities, set in a state of flux. Through the means of collage, installation, painting and drawing bodies mutate into fractured abstract shapes, resituated within a two- dimensional surface or room. In Khimji's work the nature of painting is questioned by reestablishing the relationship between figure and ground. There is an evident humor in making work this way, as the figure is always awkward and quirky due to the very method and nature of its making. The work is made strange to its environment, destabilized and incongruous, cut out and renegotiated or not negotiated. The process is crucial, it leads to the image and is never removed from it. The viewer is left on unsure footing, in an attempt to create even ground upon from where the work maybe evaluated and measured.

Radhika Khimji has shown widely in the UK and Europe, where her works are already part of several notable collections. After completing her BAFA at the Slade School of Fine Art, she went on to do her Post- Graduate studies at the Royal Academy of Fine Art in London.
