Jumaa Al Harthy was born in Muscat in 1971 in a self-dependant family. From his early childhood his father used to assign him certain responsibilities something which has developed a sense of initiative and creativity in him. He loves drawing and designing. He and his friends used to draw sketches on the sand and used small pieces to make tiny toy cars as well as carving animal miniatures out of wood and clay. He did not discover his talent until after secondary school. He is a true artist, admirer of the realistic and abstract schools of art. Over the years Jumaa has accumulated a vast experience with abstract art working with materials such as sand, papers, and wood to create his drawing as well as lino carving and printing.
Eventually he shifted his focus into the study
of heritage, history and the artistic aspects of varied civilizations
with stints on traveling and reading. He believes in rich art work and
artistic sense therefore Jumaa's work is filled with symbols and ornaments
reflecting purity and beauty.
