Nasreddine Zitouni

Nasreddine was born in Algeria, where he completed his fine arts studies at the "Académie des Beaux Arts". He was then awarded a scholarship to continue his studies in Hamburg (Germany), where he graduated in 1990 in industrial design and then worked as a designer and freelance artist. He has exhibited at various forums, societies and cultural events in Germany since.

Zitouni's design objects are fabricated from diverse materials as unique pieces, which combine modern design and the art of calligraphy. Although Arabic calligraphy has developed into a singular art form since the beginning of Islam, Nasreddine Zitouni creates a further artistic novelty. No designer has ever designed objects from diverse materials, decorated with calligraphic elements. In his exhibition there are lamps, glass objects or e.g. mirrors, which are not only striking in their design, but more so in the calligraphies. Nasreddine Zitouni is therefore an intermediary between peoples of different religions, a passionate designer and also an innovative calligrapher.
