Mohammed Muhraddin

Mohammed Muhraddin was born in Basra, Iraq in 1938. He studied painting in Baghdad from 1956 to 1959 and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, Poland in 1966.

Among his many honours, he was awarded first prize at the second International Festival of Art in Baghdad in 1988, as well as the Country Creative award in Painting in Baghdad that same year. Three large murals of Muhraddin are displayed at the Baghdad Airport, the Basra Airport, and the Festival Square in Baghdad.

'After 20 solo shows and so many international awards he is once more intent to steal our admiration and assure his talent as one of the best abstract artists not only in Iraq but also in the region. Muhraddin is a selective professional artist who enjoys a strange kind of modernity and in particular abstract, which he both melts in a creative and human style that shows his sedate ideas as well as approach. Muhraddin artistic features seem to be clear and fixed, especially in his commitment to human values which dominates most of his themes. His works are vivid with suggestions. Every symbol or number can speak for its self. Nothing is left to coincide or spontaneous explanation when it comes to Muhraddin.'
